However, something in my class caught my attention the other day. My professor was talking about social statuses and the various types there are. There is the ascribed which is the social status that you are assigned. Achieved which is the social status that you...well achieve. Then there is your master status. A master status is the identifying characteristic of a person. Your master status is the one thing that you are recognized by in society. We were asked in class to write down a master status that we were known by, blah, blah blah.....
After class was over and I was walking back to my car, I was thinking on master statues and I asked God what he saw as my master status. You know when I asked I was kind of not really expecting an answer because it was more of a fleeting question than an direct one but I just felt the Lord say "daughter."
Of course, my first reaction is like duh, I'm your daughter. But then I just let it sink in. Daughter. My master status, the one identifying thing about is that I am his daughter.
That's pretty crazy to think about. My master status, my identifying characteristic, who I am, is the daughter of the most high king and the creator of the universe!
And honestly, I cannot think of a better master status!
"Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory."
